CNN is running this column by Professor Stuart Vyse on why people are superstitious about Friday the 13th once again (it seems to have run for the first time in 2011).
Do you fear the number 13, or the conjunction of Fridays and 13? I suppose the best advice is to hide--from black kitties, ladders, cars--although I don't know where--according to the National Safety Council's website, home may be where the heart is, but it doesn't seem all that safe. According to the NSC, 245 people died from unintentional stuff at home in 2007 (including vehicle crashes--at home? where were the vehicles? Good grief) Otherwise, raise a glass and check out this bar in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. If you're really feeling lucky, punks and punkettes, buy a Mega Millions lottery ticket. The jackpot is up to 425 million dollars, U.S.
