The Romanian Liberal Democratic Party's attempt to regulate witches and fortune tellers by requiring them to provide receipts for services and also, apparently to guarantee their predictions, has gone down to defeat. The measure was intended to raise revenue in the cash-strapped country. One of the proponents of the bill, Alin Popoviciu, said he thought members of the Romanian Senate were fearful that targets of the legislation would "curse" them. Of course maybe the other legislators just thought it was a bad idea.
