I've purchased and begun reading a couple of interesting books, one on the history of magic (Les grands secrets du monde de l'illusionnisme) and the other on the art of persuasion (Le pouvoir de l'illusion: Les secrets de la persuasion (Plon)) , by a French lawyer/magician named Jacques Paget. The first book is a nice little introduction and also introduces to the novice to the basic and most famous of tricks and illusions and includes the bios of famous magicians up to the present.
The second, which I've just started, is much more theoretical. It's a discussion of how to use the principles of magic to persuade others of your point of view. Mr. Paget now lectures and demonstrates these principles to CEOs and others in business and industry.
