John Cox of the blog Houdini Lives! does a little digging of his own on the subject of Houdini's exhumation, and disinters some interesting speculations. First, he notes that David Segal's Washington Post coverage of the 2007 announcement of the exhumation pointed out that things seemed as if they were more about the book than the mystery, if there were a mystery. Next, he wonders why things are taking so long. It has, after all, been two years. Finally, he thinks most Houdini experts just don't agree that Harry Houdini was poisoned. The theory is entertaining, and apparently movie-worthy, but perhaps not so persuasive. Oh, and if you were wondering, the New York Daily News pointed out that as of March 2008 that no one had filed papers to request an exhumation. More coverage at the blog Houdini Lives!
Now, about that blog title. Is it Houdini Lives! (as is It Lives! which makes sense--Houdini fans want him to live on) or is it Houdini Lives! (as in Nine Lives, which I admit would be weird, but interesting).
We own a building upstate New York. The third floor was a theater,Houdini performed here, It is on the Champlain Canal. Do you have any documentation of him perforning in Whitehall on his way to or from Canada. The stage area is my husband's studio(he is a painter/sculptor)They say the box-office/audience part next door has his signature on the wall. We hyave a signature alluding that the handcuff trick was performed here. The signatures go back in to the nineteenth century.
