So, the Bigfoot remains that Matt Whitton, a police officer on leave, and Rick Dyer said they had come across, and swore were the real thing, have turned out to be a rubber suit and bad hair. Oh, dear. The samples flunked a DNA test as well. Officer Whitton's boss, Police Chief Jeff Turner of Clayton County, Georgia, indicated he had started the ball rolling to fire him. The officer and his buddy appeared on MSNBC with Rachel Maddow to explain their original discovery, and why they didn't call any law enforcement or investigative agency to report their amazing find. Chief Turner looks like a fair-minded fellow, however; I'm sure he'll listen to Officer Whitton's explanation of how the rubber suit got into the block of ice, why he didn't call the government, Georgia Fish & Wildlife, or anybody else, and why Officer Whitton let his brother masquerade as a "Dr. Paul van Buren." Check out Keith Olbermann's no big news for Big Foot clip.
And for more reaction, check out the indignation of the Bigfoot researchers at Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization.
USA Media Guide has Bigfoot links including the group's website, photos, the original story and the "hoax revealed story". It even has a link to a story about one of the "finders" being a former Congressional candidate. Good stuff!
