Tax Dollars at Work

I came across this weird page--it's not very big, but odd. The California Department of Real Estate has a page devoted to "Haunted Houses", apparently for older children. The graphic looks a little like the house in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. The page links out to several sites, one of which, the Virtual Haunted House, looks like some sort of educational site, but it hasn't been updated for seven years. Something called Frightbytes.com looks active, and seems to be a virtual haunted house. I couldn't get the Bonegarden Estate page to work, but that is probably just my cluelessness. No evaluation of haunted houses themselves, or explanation of why the Department would want such information or links on its site.
