Announcement: CTV will co-produce The Borgias, an historical drama, for Showtime. It will replace the hit The Tudors.
Well, finally. Somebody has noticed there's history beyond Henry VIII. There certainly is. What about, for example, some French history? Louis XIV's reign was pretty interesting. Or, if you really like English history, what about the Wars of the Roses? Or William the Conqueror (or William the Oneth), coming across the Channel and smiting Harold and taking over England? Or if you really like French AND English history, what about the Hundred Years' War? (that could last a few seasons right there). Or Ferdinand and Isabella, bringing together the Iberian peninsula (except Portugal)? Or their children and grandchildren bringing together the massive Austrian empire? (tu, felix Austria, nube) Or the history of Austro-Hungary? Or Imperial Japan? or Archduke Maximilian trying to become Emperor of Mexico (that didn't go well). Or the end of World War I and the beginnings of the Russian Revolution? Or....I'll stop now. There's lots of good history to explore. Please, no more bodice-ripping Tudorian exploits, though. Thanks.
