Hector Elizondo Signed To Play Monk's New Psychiatrist

Veteran actor Hector Elizondo is slated to play Adrian Monk's new doctor on the series Monk, taking up the job of keeping the remarkable sleuth's neuroses under control beginning with the new season beginning in July. Actor Stanley Kamel, who was just wonderful in the role of Dr. Charles Kroger (did we know he had a first name?) died earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Cybill Shepherd will appear as Shawn Spencer's mother, and ex-wife of retired cop Henry Spencer (Corbin Bernsen) on the show Psych. Ms. Shepherd is familiar to many mystery fans as the star of the classic comedy detective show Moonlighting that also starred Bruce Willis, Curtis Armstrong, and Allyce Beasley.
