Speaking of--have you noticed the number of commercials featuring magicians? Criss Angel's popcorn commercial, David Copperfield's State Farm commercial. YouTube has several of Harry Blackstone from several decades ago as well. What I think is interesting is the use of the magician's skill--"I can create something out of nothing" juxtaposed against the notion that the product does wonderful things, just as advertised. How persuasive is the commercial's message, as opposed to the magician's narrative? Fascinating.
