Hypnosis, Illusion, and Politics
Reader Brian Willis directs me to a TED talk by magician Keith Barry. Mr. Barry bills himself as a hypnomagician. The talk, and Mr. Barry's examples, lead me to wonder about the link between the willingness to believe what we see ("seeing is believing") and the willingness to believe what we hear, and the willingness to follow a charismatic leader, or a leader who tells us what we think we already believe or think we know. Lots of manipulation and illusion involved here, especially during Election Season.

Interesting post! I love the site. Here's a little something I found on David Blaine's magic that I thought you'd enjoy.
